Sand Floating Ball Urn: Water Urn

These urns are 100% biodegradable: designed for an ashes water burial. Made of clay and a plant-based gelatin, they dissolve completely in water.

This Floating Ball Urn will make any water burial ceremony dignified and memorable. Made of sand and a plant-based gel and will float for few minutes (see below). They will then sink and dissolve completely in water this will mean the ashes will release into the water.

The urn will float* on the surface giving you time to say few words, poems or prayers – whatever you wish.  We have tested these urns, this is what happened – How long will a Floating Ball Urn float for?. We do not think the urn will float if the weight of the ashes is greater than 7 1/2 lbs / 3.4Kg

The urn will stand a much better chance of floating if placed as opposed to dropped into the water.

Simply place the ashes into the dissolvable bag, then place this inside the bottom half of the urn. To seal the urn us some adhesive glue (supplied) to put around the bottom half and then place the top half on top and leave to set.

There are no animal products used in the gelatin bonding agent, they are ideal for Hindu and Sikh ceremonies

Ashes water ceremony

Water burials are a very dignified way to conduct a ashes ceremony – you can cast petals, put last words on our promises noteletsOr if appropriate you can use our natural floating biodegradable candle, made of beeswax and coconut shell to make a memorable occasion.

Record where you conducted the ceremony for future generations. If you are on a boat the skipper will be able to tell you your exact location. Recorded the location on our ceremony certificates

We consider these urns more suitable for deeper water below the low tide line. Please see our page on general guidance for ceremonies or river or the sea. Many people find that the simple presence of a body of water after the ceremony can help them to remember that person.

What people have said (more reviews below)

I wanted to send a huge thank you for the excellent customer experience we received from you. I purchased a floating ball urn on behalf of my mum and she was extremely pleased with the product she received. It was something that was very important to her and the speed or service and quality of product meant a lot to me. Vicky
