Description

Hand-Cut Memorial Stone Sundials.

Housing cremated ashes in a garden sculpture is a fantastic idea and this traditional design is simple, elegant and timeless.  This stone memorial sundial is available in Jurassic stone and is hand-cut by British craftsmen here in the UK and then polished to a high sheen. Keeping the ashes in one of these memorial stone sundials is both a beautiful focal point for your garden, and totally discreet. The urn is held within the structure, you can choose whether you tell people or just admire it yourself.

Dimensions: Height 79 cm  x Width 30 cm  x Depth 30 cm  (31″ x 12” x 12″)

Jurassic is a limestone rich in fossils which is mostly found in Morocco. Unlike much of the memorial stone sundials these are natural and individual, the fossils will give each one a slightly different appearance.

Sundials

Keeping the ashes

Many people keep their loved one’s ashes at home, some because they are not sure what to do with them, some because they are not yet ready to do something with them and some simply want to keep them close by, in the house.  Sometimes, very well meaning, friends will give advice such as ‘it’s time to move on’ or ‘you’ll feel better if you scatter/bury them’. But only you will know how you feel with the loss of your loved one and only you will know when and if the time is right to do something else with the ashes.

Keeping ashes in the garden

We are a nation of gardeners and many people would love to be placed to rest in the garden that they loved, nurtured and enjoyed.  The main downside to simply burying the ashes in the garden is that if the house ever has to be sold you will have to find and dig the ashes up or leave them behind, this can be stressful for all involved. By keeping them inside an ornament in the garden not only do you get to put your loved one in the place that they loved, but if you do ever need to move home you can simply take them with you.

The other benefit of a memorial garden ornament is that it is completely discreet. This will give you more time to decide what you want to do as your feelings may change over time. Until then these urns can keep the ashes safely at home without you having to explain your reasons to anyone, if someone admires the keepsake it is up to you whether you tell them or not.

Due to the shape and size there is no need to secure the memorial stone sundial to the ground, it is made of four sections the middle pedestal is hollowed to hold the ashes.

If required we will supply a correctly sized urn free of charge. The sundial is fixed in place with a epoxy glue, these are shipped separately.

Delivery: Due to the weight of these boulders the price excludes delivery please contact us for the delivery price for a pallet to your driveway – you will need to arrange for the movement of the sundial from the driveway to your desired location in your garden.

    Mrs Robinson

Just to thank you for the very beautiful sundial which arrived a few minutes’ ago. It will look really lovely on the plinth, and I am arranging to have it set up and moved to its final “resting place” in the garden as soon as the weather improves slightly!! Many, many thanks again, the trouble you have taken has been really appreciated. Mrs Robinson
