Meet Your Maker: Kate Semple – Bespoke Stone Memorial Artist
One of the most humbling parts of what we do is meeting extraordinary families and working alongside some of the most talented makers in the UK. Our bespoke memorial artists pour their skill, sensitivity and heart into every commission. They understand grief, they understand meaning, and they create memorials that feel truly worthy of the person they honour.
We are proud to collaborate with Kate Semple, a gifted stone sculptor, and a brilliantly creative collective here in the South West. Together, they work closely with families to design and craft unique, discreet and deeply personal garden memorials — pieces that quietly celebrate a life well lived.
A Collaborative Creative Process
Every bespoke memorial begins with conversation. The creative team listens carefully, taking time to understand your loved one’s personality, passions and story. From there, they sketch and shape ideas, ensuring the design feels authentic and meaningful.
Each memorial is then created by the craftsperson — or often, a small team of craftspeople — best suited to the materials and techniques required. It’s not unusual for up to five makers to contribute their expertise to a single bespoke piece.
This collaborative approach ensures that:
The design is sensitive and personal
The craftsmanship is exceptional
The final memorial feels emotionally right
Throughout the process, the team is there to support you gently and professionally during what can be a very difficult time.
