Memorial Glass Robin with Ashes

“Robins appear when loved ones are near” as the saying goes, perfect all year round and special at Christmas this bird is so emblematic of our gardens and our countryside and particularly in winter as its little red breast warms any heart.

It is discreet yet prominent, these individually hand blown glass Robins look amazing.

The Memorial Glass Robin contains a small amount of your loved ones ashes and are available in two different designs:

Red and White – more traditional robin with a red breast and white body, in this piece the ashes will be less visible/not visible.

Red swirl – a more contemporary look with a red swirl allowing you to see the ashes more clearly.

These Robins are handmade in Devon by craftsmen with years of experience

Dimensions:

Top to bottom – 70mm*

Circumference – 50mm*

Length –120mm*

Weight – 350g*

*slight variations are possible as each one is hand blown.

The Robins are a lovely size that fits perfectly in your hand, such a tactile memorial item and has a good weight if you also wish to use them as a paperweight.

The procedure is extremely rigorous and each item comes with a certificate of authenticity so that you know that only the ashes you have provided are in your memorial glass.

Keeping the ashes

Many people keep their loved one’s ashes at home, some because they are not sure what to do with them, some because they are not yet ready to do something with them and some simply want to keep them close by, in the house.  Sometimes, very well meaning, friends will give advice such as ‘it’s time to move on’ or ‘you’ll feel better if you scatter/bury them’. But only you will know how you feel about the loss of your loved one and only you will know when and if the time is right to do something else with the ashes.

Splitting the ashes

It is worthwhile thinking about keeping some of your loved one’s ashes, as long as there are no religious reasons. You can scatter or bury most of the ashes on a favourite walk perhaps, or at sea or on a favourite holiday. But if you keep a small amount back you can memorialise when you are ready.  This will give you more time to decide what you want to do as your feelings may change over time.

The Process

As soon as you buy an  ashes into glass ornament we will send you a pack with everything you need to send a small amount – a teaspoon of ashes per item – securely to our glassmaker.

The glass maker keeps the ashes securely in a safe until they are individually handmade into your glass memorial. Once cooled the robin is sent securely to you with the certificate of authenticity.

The process takes between 6 to 10 weeks from receipt of ashes.
