Scattering Ashes – Stratosphere / Space: UK Wide

Scatter ashes in the stratosphere

The range of choices for how you can give your loved one a final send of has just taken a giant leap, I am paraphrasing from the space mission, but here we have something unique to the British market. They use top of the range meteorological balloons filled with helium to carry a specially engineered biodegradable urn 100,000ft above earth, where it scatters the ashes in the stratosphere.

It reaches 100,000ft before the balloon bursts and the urn floats back down to earth where it dissolves at sea, with the ashes dispersing into the stratosphere. The service is priced at £3,500 for those who wish to opt for this unique experience. This is a video recorded by the company on one of their first launches…

“An out of this world idea on dealing with the death of a loved one.”

 Mark Whitaker, BBC News

The price tag for those who think they would like to exit in the same fashion – £3,500.

doves released at a scattering ceremony

Scattering Ceremony – Dove Release: Greater London

One option for a memorable ceremony is to release a dove or a number of doves after you have scattered the ashes. Whether one dove, a pair of doves or a small flock, they make a poignant and symbolic gesture. We can arrange this for you.
Expert handlers, with experience and sensitivity for such occasions will bring the doves to your ceremony. At the time of release, the handler can assist you in holding the dove before release, or you can simply open the carrier or basket and let the dove fly out, or the handler can do it all for you. You choose what feels right for you at the time.
The doves can carry a personal message. Simply write it on a piece of soft paper (5mm by 10mm) and the handler will attach it to the dove’s leg before release.
To mark the release, you will receive a Memorial Card – personalised with the name of your loved one plus an organza bag containing naturally moulted white feathers (when available) as a keepsake.
The company is based in London covering Greater London and the south east, north to Milton Keynes, west to Reading, east to Southend and south to Crawley.
Prices are subject to the distance travelled by road to the release site. If the release is on a boat, extra time required by our handler will be factored in.
Prices start from £85 for a single dove and £105 for a pair of doves. Very often when a dove-release is booked, those attending may wish they could release a dove too. So for each additional dove booked, the cost is just £10.
To enquire or make a booking, simply fill in the form below and you will be contacted shortly.

Scattering Ashes – Spitfire or Piper “Grasshopper”: Kent

ashes scattered from a WW2 plane

A fitting end for any RAF or WWII veteran, pilot or plane enthusiast, being scattered from a  choice of vintage World War II planes.

What is more there could be no finer plane  that chimes with British nation as the majestic and legendary Spitfire. Alternatively you could chose the Piper Cub L-4, a familiar sight with classic design and known to most people as the ‘Grasshopper’.

Fights operate from an airbase in Kent. From an Airfield with a Battle of Britain history

They can fly all year round as long as the weather is good and the cost are as follows, approximately:
WW2 1943 Piper L4 Cub £250-£350 plus VAT
WW2 1944 Spitfire Mk9 £1800-£2500 plus VAT

The flight lasts as long as it takes to get to the release point and the return back to the airbase. Obviously the further the flight the greater the price, mainly due to increased fuel costs.

To make an enquiry please fill out the form below and the plane operator will contact you as soon as they are able. You will receive and automated email with the operator’s direct telephone number should your enquiry be more urgent.

Scattering Ashes – Skydiving: Suffolk

We have found a company where you can scatter the ashes during a tandem skydive!

You can experience the thrill of freefall and even learn the basics of steering, while securely attached to a highly experienced Instructor.

You will have a parachute that is designed for two people. You’ll take an aircraft to around 13,000ft (approx. 2 miles high!) where you’ll leave the aircraft with your instructor. Falling at 120mph, you descend to 5,000ft in around just 40 seconds, where your instructor will open the parachute and descend safely back to earth scattering the ashes on the way. The whole thing lasts for about 6 minutes and from that height you get quite a view.

Following a short pre-jump briefing, You will be provided with a skydiver’s jumpsuit to go over your clothes (wear something comfy), headgear and goggles.

Hop in the plane it spiralling up for 20 to 25 minutes then off you go

The company is affiliated to the British Parachute Association. All tandem instructors are very experienced freefall parachutists who hold BPA Tandem Instructor ratings.

There is a send-off you won’t forget.

Based in Suffolk in the UK.

Prices start of at £180 depending on which day although general about £230.
